Résidence Clos des merises

Blanchette Archidesign

Perched on a steep plateau along the shores of Lac Saint-Amour, Le Clos des Merises asserts its private character from the very approach. Freely composed and drawing from the archetype of the traditional house, the two white volumes serve as a deliberately austere canvas upon which the shadows of deciduous and coniferous trees are cast.

The H-shaped layout, subtly offset to maximize sunlight and enhance the relationship between the indoor spaces and the enclosed terrace, anchors the residence’s primary circulation areas at its core. The transparency of this junction creates a deliberate interplay between the entrance and the carefully curated landscape of the rear terrace.

A second access point is positioned to the left, beneath the cantilevered second floor. This independent entrance leads to the office, allowing for a seamless separation of the home’s functions. Whether delineating private quarters from living areas, or the master suite from guest spaces, this connecting element frames and re-frames the site’s natural beauty, enhancing its scenic qualities.

On the façades facing the lake, the cladding takes on a different, perhaps more domestic character, featuring a cedar lattice that accentuates the interplay of volumes created by the building’s recesses and projections.
