Its volumetry unfolds by conforming to the shape of the topography. The organization of the volumes results from a careful negotiation with the visual openings provided by the landscape.

The site facing Mont-Tremblant features a rugged topography and welcomes us with a stream. The textures and colors of the landscape immediately set the foundation for our design. Approaching from the bottom of the site, a path flanked by a rocky outcrop and a mix of birch and maple trees leads us to the plateau where the house sits. Reaching the top offers a glimpse of the landscape but not the entirety of the house.

The site, facing Mont-Tremblant, features a dynamic topography and welcomes visitors with the presence of a stream. The textures and colors of the landscape immediately set the foundation for our design approach. Arriving from the lower part of the site, a path flanked by a rocky outcrop and a mix of birch and maple trees leads to the plateau where the residence is situated. Reaching the summit offers glimpses of the surrounding landscape, but not the entirety of the house. Its volumetry unfolds, adapting to the natural contours of the land. The organization of the volumes is the result of a careful negotiation with the visual openings provided by the landscape.

Following this guiding line, the architectural envelope reveals itself—a blend of cedar, glass, and metal cladding that will gradually harmonize with its surroundings and the site’s natural tones. In addition, several walls are constructed with architectural concrete, a defining feature of the project.

The living spaces are connected through this concrete element, a folded line that guides movement throughout the house. This pathway creates an experience of discovery, both of the architecture and the landscape—at times slightly elevated, as in the kitchen and spacious living room, and at others grounding the occupants in direct contact with the land, as seen in the more intimate spaces like the bedrooms. A composition of varying heights, enclosed and open spaces, establishes a unique and complementary dialogue. The balance is achieved through expansive windows and exterior extensions of the interior materials, directing the gaze outward and blurring the boundary between inside and outside.
